Step 2 - How our system can help

You will already be familiar with our CPD recording module which has helped you keep track of your learning activities since you signed-up.  We have now also added a 'CPD Audit Profile' module to use if you are selected for audit.  There are two ways you can produce your CPD profile statement using CPD-Online.com.

With the first option you simply input your profile statement into our 'CPD Audit Profile' module and let it take care of the process for you.  As required, the statement is still your own work/words but it is formatted into an superbly presented 'brand-free' template for you ready to simply print.

To take advantage of this first option, simply click where you see and follow the prompts.  At the end you will get a profile statement that looks something like this:

The second option, explained below, allows you to 'cherry pick' certain aspects of the information from the CPD recording module and is the perfect option if you would prefer to compile your statement yourself in a more bespoke manner:

If you choose this second option, the first thing you will need to prepare is a summary list of all your CPD records to prove your compliance with CPD standard 1 - maintain a continuous, up-to-date and accurate record of your CPD activities. The www.cpd-online.com system will allow you to do this in seconds:

  • Select all the CPD records you wish to include

  • Click export and choose MS Excel

  • Print this list from within MS Excel

The second thing you will want to demonstrate is that your CPD activities are a mixture of learning activities relevant to your current or future practice (standard 2).  Remember the little graph that automatically tallies up all the different types of your CPD on the system's homepage? Click on that to see a larger printable version:

  • Click on the little graph

  • This will open a bigger graph

  • Right click on the bigger graph and print it or you could right click on it and cut and paste it into another document or even save it

  • This is a nice easy and effective way to visually demonstrate your CPD is a mixture of learning activities

Next, you will want to select around five different pieces of CPD to focus on that demonstrate at least 3 different sorts of learning activites (see your graph above).  These should be the pieces that you feel are the most relevant to standards 3 and 4 (3 - have contributed to the quality of your practice and service delivery and 4 - ensure that your CPD benefits the service user.).  These will be the main pieces that you will write about in your profile statement so should be something that can be easily evidenced:

  • Choose records that are complete and give you a good amount to talk about

  • Focus on the benefits to your practice and to the service user

  • Download the associated evidence that you uploaded with the record and submit that as evidence to support your profile statement

  • You can select individual records from the homescreen

  • If you click 'print selected CPD' all these records will appear in a print template that removes all cpd-online.com references.

Now you have gathered everything you need easily from our system, you will need to write your profile for submission. This must be all your own work and we cannot therefore help you with this.

Follow the examples shown in the .pdf files for your profession given in the previous step and use the tips above to help you. Remember the following:

  • You need to provide a summary sheet giving brief details of all your CPD activities over the last two years.

  • You need to write approximately 500 words (which is approx 2500 characters) on a summary of practice over the last two years.

Your summary should describe your role and the type of work you do. The summary should include your main responsibilities, identify the specialist areas you work in and identify the people you communicate and work with most.

It may be appropriate to base this part of your CPD profile on your job description. When you have written your statement about how you meet the HCPC's standards for CPD, you may find it helpful to go back over your summary of work, to make sure that it clearly explains how your CPD activities are relevant to your future or current work.

  • You need to write approximately a further 1500 words (which is approx 7500 characters) on your profile statement and this should describe how you have met the HCPC CPD standards.  Remember, you will be expected to focus on standards 3 and 4 for this section as explained above.

  • Don't get bogged down with the word count, if you can sufficiently fulfil the criteria in 1000 words, there is no point bloating it out to 1500.

Good luck!
